Priest Leveling Guide

Leveling Your Priest in World of Warcraft

Priests are the healers. When you are a priest, every one wants to group with you, because you can keep them from dying. This is a good thing, because priests are exceptionally easy to kill. There is no need to look for another class. It is still possible to level your priest quickly, if you know how to protect and spec him properly. In fact, it is even possible to solo.

The fastest way for a priest to level is specializing in Shadow. This talent tree allows you to do a great deal more damage. There are several races that you can choose from for your priest. Each race has a racial spell that they get at levels 10 and 20 that is based on their individual race. All of these spells are beneficial, but if you have decided on a Shadow build, you may take the racial spell under consideration, when you are deciding on a race. Night Elves, Trolls, and Undead are three races who's racial spells compliment the Shadow Build.

When deciding on gear, articles that give bonuses to your stamina, spirit, and intellect are going to be the most helpful. As you progress you will have access to gear that also offers bonuses to things like healing spells, spell hit ratings, and types of spell such as shadow, arcane, and such. Shadow Priests do a lot of damage, but they cannot heal when they are using shadow spells. They also give up a lot of talents that would strengthen their healing abilities for talents that give them a higher DPS. Generally, when a Priest is in a group, he is there solely to heal. For this reason, you might consider keeping 2 sets of gear on hand; one set that compliments your shadow damage and DPS while you are questing; and another set the boosts your healing and resurrection spells when you are instancing or in raid parties. You are going to want to keep mana potions on you as well. The last piece of equipment that you will need is a good wand. Wands are a good way to wear down ads that are focused on a tank. They are good to use when you want to conserve mana for healing, or for when you need to deal damage and you mana needs time to regenerate.

Many priests re-spec at level 60. They use spec for Shadow up to that point to level quickly, then re-spec a Healer build for questing in the Outlands. Once your character reaches level 60, there are actually many different ways you can go with your priest. For that reason, this guide will help with talent distribution up to level 60. To specialize your priest with a Shadow build for maximum leveling, allocate your talent points accordingly: Black Out 5/5; Unbreakable Will 5/5; Spirit Tap 5/5; Improved Shadow Word: Pain 2/2; Improved Mind Blast 1/5; Mind Flay 1/1' Improved Psychic Scream 2/2; Shadow Reach 2/2; Shadow Weaving 5/5; Silence 1/1; Vamperic Embrace 1/1; Improved Vamperic Embrace 2/2; Darkness 5/5; Shadow Form 1/1; Shadow Power 3/5; Misery 5/5; and then Vamperic Touch 1/1.

Priests are often thought of as the weakest class. With proper specs and gear, priests can, actually, be a very formidable opponent. High DPS builds offer opportunities for leveling just as quickly and any other class, especially if the priest is working in support of a group.
