Playstation 3, A Step Ahead Of The Rest?

Its the battle of the gaming hardware. It seems that the competition between Nintendo and their prime competitor Sony with its PlayStation series has been heating up for some time now.

Sony PlayStation 3 is the high - end, with all the bells and whistles between the two. It contains a top tier 60GB hard drive version, high-definition graphics, Blu-ray disc drive that delivers great image quality and a hard disk. Sony PlayStation comes with hefty $600 or more retail price.

No doubt even with that price range it will probably still beat out the competition. PlayStation 3 comes with both an Ethernet port and Bluetooth capabilities. PlayStation 3s online play is completely free of charge. If you want to do a lot of movie watching with your PSE, the Sony PlayStation 3 Blue-ray DVD remote is a nice luxury to have.

As we can see Sony has built something with a definite eye on the future. Sony PlayStation 3 was designed to be more than just a video game console. It comes with a quiet operation; plays high definition Blue-ray movies in addition to standard DVDs; all games are high definition; built -in WI-FI; 60 GB hard drive; built - in memory card readers; Bluetooth support for wireless controllers and accessories; backwards-compatible with PS2 and PS1 titles; online play is completely free; HDMI output with 1080p support; no external power supply.

Although Nintendo Wii has its own perks and benefits it is not quite as advanced as PS3. Nintendo Wii does have built in WI-Fi but not Ethernet. Like PS3 it has an SD card slot and can display photos, but its standard-def DVD drive cant yet play movies. They are still working on that. What Nintendo does have that keeps it in the game is a unique gaming remote device called the Wiimote and an enormous library of games.

The PS3 enters the market with significantly more horsepower and better graphics, but their game options are, at this point fairly limited. PS3 opened with 20 games. Nintendo Wii came on the market with 62 games available. PS3 seems to be ahead of the game for now with its high-end bells - and whistles, but who knows what the future holds in the gaming industry.
